The Wild Wellness Method (WW) is an Australian first - a merging of medical professionals, decades of experience and global thought leaders - delivered through online courses and retreats. The most recent Productivity Commission Report estimates mental illness is costing Australia $220 billion a year. Our burdened health system cannot cope. We believe there is another way ... a wilder way.
This blueprint for wellness takes years of science-backed knowledge and condenses it into days. Think Wim Hof Method ocean plunges, doctor-led sessions beneath the stars, PT-instructed movement, powerful journaling and guided breathwork. This is no ordinary blueprint. Can't get to our retreats? That's okay. We'll guide you through without leaving your home turf through online courses that tap into the heart of this method, bringing it to life in your world.
Wild Wellness is based on 3 Pillars: connection, care and commitment. Our team spans a doctor, psychologist, NLP practitioner, personal trainer, nutritionist and more. We are thrilled to partner with the Tasmanian Walking Company for our walking experiences. We take the best of the traditional model and bring it into nature's office. We believe there is no better place than Tasmania for wellness. It's one of the last wild frontiers, at the edge of the world. Here, we breathe some of the world's cleanest air.
It's wild. It's also the home of Wild Wellness.
TWO WELLNESS PATHWAYS
We have pathways for those seeking to improve their general wellbeing as well as options for those who specifically want to shift their relationship with alcohol.
WILD WELLNESS METHOD (WW)
For anyone feeling the overwhelm or stress of life and needing time out. Those looking to optimise their wellness through a science-backed, wholistic approach can tap into our upcoming retreats and online courses. This is your recipe for reset complete with tools for the long term.
ALCOHOL FREE WILD WELLNESS METHOD (AF-WW)
For those wanting to shift their relationship with alcohol and enjoy the process. Australians spent an extra $2 billion on alcohol in 2020 compared with 2019. As a country, we like a drink. Our retreats and online courses include a 30-day program complete with eating plan specific to nutrients dedicated drinkers need most.
IS WILD WELLNESS FOR ME?
Feeling anxious or burnt out? Not connecting with your true self but too busy to acknowledge this? Wild Wellness is about hopping off life’s highway, examining limiting beliefs and tapping into what matters. This isn’t a few-day fix but a lasting recalibration. Reclaim control and author your own life.
WW IS FOR YOU IF:
- limiting beliefs interrupt your flow
- your wellness is secondary to your to-do-list
- you want wellness to be a fun adventure
- you've tried cutting back on alcohol and falter
- you're weary of waking weary
- you've set drinking rules that are bent by cocktail hour
- alcohol has become a headache ... literally
This blueprint to wellness is the product of founder Alice Hansen’s 20-year journey to find good help with her own struggles. It's what she would have loved to have served up when times were tougher. No one wants to take two decades to find wellness - so we’ve condensed her experience into a Wild Wellness blueprint that anyone can follow from anywhere. It’s core teachings come from as close as her local beach to as far as Colorado, USA.
The WWM's powerful, transformative capability has its roots in a US approach known as This Naked Mind (TNM), founded by Annie Grace. Her program is so successful, more than 200,000 have changed their relationship with alcohol through her 30 Day Alcohol Experiment.
Closer to home, the WWM also draws from Hello Sunday Morning (HSM), founded by Chris Raine, now a dear mate of Alice’s. Gaining widespread traction, the not-for-profit has acquired government and corporate assistance as it continues to help people wanting to change their relationship with alcohol. It does so in a positive, powerful way. Alice has formed relationships with both HSM and TNM – with both supportive of this Australian first. We also dive deep into the Wim Hof Method.

Listen to the stories of the mountain's history and unique plants and animals all in the care of knowledgeable local guides. Be coached through Wim Hof Method breathwork and icy river plunge (by Piet, trained by Wim Hof himself) followed by writer-led journaling beside a roaring fire and mountain stream.
The small group experience visits North West Bay River which collects its crystal waters from kunanyi's alpine plateau. Once we've settled in on the river bank we'll have an extended break for our breathwork and cool river plunge (not compulsory but will ignite every sense!) After returning along the track fully refreshed, enjoy a gourmet burger lunch. It's a hearty Tasmanian affair with plump burgers and local flavours on the menu including East Coast cheeses and Pigeon Hole Baker treats to keep you going.

WHAT IS WILD WELLNESS?
Australia's Productivity Commission Report estimates mental illness is costing Australia $220 billion a year. Our burdened health system cannot cope. Deep in this system of revolving rehab doors, I (Alice) began to wonder if there were other pathways when things got hard - wilder ways out. I mined the world for answers, from downtown Hobart to Colorado and spent wintery mornings diving into waves.
Over time, I gathered a team so fine that Wild Wellness became far greater than my own mission. This blueprint for wellness is an Australian first; taking years of science-backed knowledge and condensing it into days. It’s a wholesome wellness script based on three core pillars: connection, care and commitment.
I believe there is no better place to experience Wild Wellness than Tasmania. Whatever your wellness goals might be, this method is about returning to you; listening in.

RETREAT ELEMENTS:
MINDSET COACHING MASTERCLASS
Annia's joy is supporting you to create a life you desire and deserve. This Masterclass is under wraps for those who come to Bruny - her wisdom will move you.
JOURNALING/CONTEMPLATIVE WALKING
The power of hitting pen to paper. It’s not new. Leonardo da Vinci’s journals spanned some 5,000 pages. But the therapeutic wonders of reflective writing didn’t emerge until the 1960s, when a New York psychologist devised what he coined the Intensive Journal Method. We won’t pen thousands of pages but we will invite self-discovery through the written word. Our Wild Wellness Journaling Method will cross our three foundational pillars.
We combine journal writing with optional pre-contemplative walking. In a noisy world it’s rare to hear nature’s silence. But in this Tasmanian stillness, it’s possible to reconnect with you. Nature has a way of casting its healing spell. In Japan, it’s known as forest bathing (shinrin-yoku), and literally translates to bathing in the forest atmosphere. It doesn’t require anything of you but to tap into the senses and soak it in …
This is your retreat, your words and your Bruny Island journey.
WILD WELLNESS JOURNALING
Day 1: Tonight, we meet our Wild Wellness journals. Around the fire or cosy indoors, we begin our writing. Alice introduces you to Wild Wellness and its three pillars; connection, care and commitment. Of the ‘three C’s’ this evening the sun sets as we contemplate connection.
Day 2: It’s journal time. Today, we explore care, namely self/soul care and care for others. Do you care for yourself as you would a dear friend? We ask questions and we let answers flow.
Day 3: Our final morning is about commitment. Wellness doesn’t just happen in three days. It’s not about escaping life - your retreat is lifelong with Wild Wellness. We make our commitments in writing and ensure we have plenty of fun, nature and joy weaved in.
STORY AS SOUL MEDICINE
This ritualised story sharing experience taps into the sacred act of storytelling. Offering a richly immersive auditory experience for individual retreat guests or small groups for 90 minutes, the invitation is for guests to open themselves up to the healing power of being fully present while listening deeply to sound and stories. Find out more here.
COLD THERAPY
Ready to invigorate your life? Discover the power of cold-water therapy with Piet. Our morning submersions will have you feeling alive and energised. Those keen, can sink into one of our ice baths at the lodge. (Alice highly recommends this!)
We’ll go deep, exploring the benefits across three days of cold water immersion. It doesn’t matter if you’ve never dipped a toe into the Wim Hof Method or you’re an enthusiast from way back. You’ll learn strategies and tools that will last long beyond your three days, under expert guidance. Expect to be challenged, reset and exhilarated.
BREATHING
Take a deep breath. Isn’t it about time? Learn ancient breathing techniques that work wonders and can be tapped into for a lifetime to come. This breathwork is about boosting energy, dropping stress, recalibrating the nervous system, detoxing your system and so much more.
NATURE
On Bruny, we are gifted with nature in her most wild mood. We’ll immerse you in our island landscape to soak up its transformative ways. Bruny enjoys access to a stunning coastline that we’ll be exploring on foot together as well as rugged wilderness for those keen to venture further.
